How to do Direct Sales without being pushy

24/11/2017 By Savanna Robinson Leave a Comment

Marketing strategies for your work from home businesshow to do direct sales without being pushy

Starting out in the Direct Sales world can be exciting, but can also be scary as anything. You want to start making money, but have no idea how to market yourself, don’t know how to use half of the social media platforms around and feel like you’re barely keeping afloat out there in the world of Direct Selling. Even those who have been in it a while can wonder they their warm market dries up and don’t know what to do to get things rolling along again or where to start anew with marketing strategies. Here is my advice on how to do direct sales without being pushy or driving your friends to block you.

My experiences

To start with a little background of what happened with me in my journey into the Direct Sales World. I first tried doing Tupperware before social media even became a thing, but wasn’t a salesy type person (what introvert is) and all the tips I got from my Team Leader didn’t sit right with me. I couldn’t book the parties I needed and pretty much just ended up buying stuff to be able to stay on as a consultant. This happened twice! Second time my sponsor/leader was better, but still was floundering in it.

Then I signed up for Avon a little while later as I bought a lot of their stuff. There were no areas local to me available to deliver catalogues to, so I just sold to myself and family. And the same thing happened when I was introduced to Nutrimetics. I just did it for the personal discount and stocked up on my favourites.

When I signed up with Jamberry though, it was with the intention that I wanted to try and replace some of my income from teaching with it. So I did everything I could to try and learn how to market myself and not turn all my friends off at the same time by being pushy. I really wanted it to work as it fitted around my personal health needs better having multiple sclerosis.

My sponsor Joanna found a course to learn about using Facebook Live when it first started out, and many of our team joined in a 30 day challenge to learn how to go ‘Live’ and be more comfortable with that new medium.

Who’s Brenda?

Through that course I then learnt about Brenda Ster and the Socialite Suite. A place to learn how to do all these things I wanted, without being spammy!

Brenda offers lots of free value advice in her big group, and it just hit the 100K mark of people who have chosen to be in the group (they won’t accept anyone being added by someone else!) There are also other groups to join up according to the area where you live, if you’ve purchased courses, and a premium paid coaching group called Suite Sassy Pants (with all the pants jokes to go along with it).

But she also offers a lot of great paid programs about different areas of your small business. There are courses for the main social media platforms – Suite Success with Instagram video course, Winning with Pinterest video course, and Epic Live Facebook Parties video course. There is a branding with graphics course – Brand Yo’Self with Suite Graphics video course. There are live coaching calls! Design and web services! They pretty much have a one-stop shop there for people working a small business!

I’ve taken 5 of her courses so far, and they are so worth the money she charges compared to some other programs out there on the web! And I have learnt so much! I am better at marketing myself, and have branded myself separately to my company so that I stand out from the crowd a bit more. And I’m still persisting in my business nearly 18 months later. (That’s excellent in my books considering most people drop out of direct sales in their first year).

The latest course I completed was Blogging Bootcamp where you learn how to set up your blog, what to write, pretty much everything needed to get it up and running! Brenda is a firm believer in not giving you a website that you then have no idea how it works or what to do with it! (Look out for the link back to this when it comes out in January!) They even can design your logo if needed. Here’s a link to the review on their design of logo for my blog website.

8 social media tips for Jamberry consultants

01/08/2017 By Savanna Robinson 1 Comment

social media tips

It is great that in this day and age that you are not limited to a home based business where you have to constantly go out of your home to get the best results. With the advance of social media in the last 10 years, it has made it much easier for Jamberry consultants and other Direct sales companies to utilise the reach of the social media world. But it has also made it in harder in some ways too. It is not automatically going to grow your customer base and sales simply by being on as many social media platforms as you can find. So here are my 8 social media tips for Jamberry consultants.

My 8 social media tips

Tip 1

Follow the Policies and Procedures and Compliance documents. Make sure you are clear on what you are and are not able to do as an Independent Jamberry Consultant. If you don’t understand, check with your upline!

Tip 2

Don’t be spammy! The best way to lose friends on social media is to be all ‘Buy from me!!!!”. Use a ratio of 80% other content to 20% business. People come to social media to be entertained first of all!

Tip 3

Facebook– learn more about Facebook and the way the algorithms work. Make sure you are not flooding your personal timeline with business stuff. It’s actually against Facebook policies and can see you placed in Facebook Jail. Use a business/fan page which is quite simple to set up and a VIP page to keep your special customers up to date and build relationships with them.

Tip 4

Instagram– Utilise a good mix of the 30 hashtags you can have to gain an audience and followers for your product.

Tip 5

Original graphics– Head Office does supply us with beautiful graphics to market our businesses with, but when everyone is posting exactly the same thing, it’s hard to stand out, and can set off spam filters too! Creating your own graphics can help you stand out from the crowd! Be sure to check up on what we are allowed to do on graphics with products.

Tip 6

Brand yourself – Work on branding yourself so people become familiar with you, what you sell and what your graphics look like. Make a watermark to use on all your original graphics. Use your branding on all social media platforms you use.

Tip 7

Be consistent! Whatever platform you choose to use, try to post there at regular intervals. This lets your audience becomes accustomed to your online presence and want to see more of your content. Using a scheduling tool such as Cinchshare can help with this. Master one social media platform before you try to tackle another. It is no use being on all platforms if not much is happening on any of them.

Tip 8

Join the Socialite Suite– It’s a fabulous place on the web led by Brenda Ster. She teaches about attraction marketing strategies and looks at making the world a less spammy place. She gives a lot of free content to help direct sellers, but also has many wonderful trainings you can purchase to help your business including Pinterest, Facebook, Instagram and using graphics to brand yourself.

So what is this Jamberry everyone talks about?

07/07/2017 By Savanna Robinson 2 Comments

Now you’ve probably been hearing this name, Jamberry, around the place. Yet you have no idea what it it’s all about. Is it jam? Is it a new plant? What on earth could it possibly be! What is this Jamberry?so what is this Jamberry everyone talks about

What is Jamberry?

Jamberry started off as an idea in 2010. Three sisters from the US, Lyndsey, Christy and Keri, went out for a girl’s day. They had a very expensive trip to the nail salon getting some nail wraps applied. The ladies decided that something you could do yourself at home would be great. Thus began their line of Do It Yourself vinyl nail wraps.

Need to know how to apply nail wraps. Click here. What is this Jamberry?

Jamberry entered the beauty world in 2011 under a direct sales business model. Women who purchase their business kit are Independent Associates who earn up to 40% commission on retail sales. The company has focussed on women being able to find their own ‘signature’ style of beauty. With several hundred designs being available at any one time to suit all needs, from subtle to outlandish, there is something to suit every lady. It looks to empower women to go after their unique dreams, whether that be in having their own business or simply in having beautiful nails that inspire self-confidence and help them in making self care a priority in their life. What is this Jamberry?

In 2017 it is now a global brand being available from Jamberry Independent Consultants in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom and Mexico. It is a highly sought after nail art form that prides itself in being free of 8 harmful chemicals found in other nail care products. What is this Jamberry?

The company is always updating its product range which now includes lacquers, gels, hand and foot care products, and tools to help apply products easily. And late 2017 they introduced the JamBeauty range with matte lipstick and haircare to come in the next few months. What is this Jamberry?

We eagerly await to see what the next few years will bring from this lovely young company!

Update- In June 2018 Jamberry became part of M.Network, which then changed to M.Global. In November 2018 it then came under the umbrella company BeneYou, with M.Global, Jamberry and another to come over in January 2019. The JamBeauty range has been phased out as well some of the other nail products. What is this Jamberry?
